Pulpotomy In KL, Malaysia

A pulpotomy, also known as a baby root canal, is an endodontic treatment for tooth decay that has reached the dental pulp of the tooth.

The dental pulp is the soft inner layer of the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue.

Dental pulp can be damaged or infected as a result of dental trauma or untreated tooth decay, resulting in severe tooth pain. When decay has not yet reached the tooth’s root, a pulpotomy is a minimally invasive procedure used on baby teeth.

It means infected/inflamed dental pulp from the crown while leaving the root intact. This differs from a root canal, which removes all of the dental pulp, right down to the roots.

In either case, a medicated dressing is applied to the pulp at the root, and the vulnerable tooth is protected with a stainless steel crown.

Root Canal Treatment for Milk Teeth

Baby teeth are important for maintaining proper spacing for adult teeth, chewing, and speech development, so it’s important to keep them until they naturally fall out and are replaced by permanent teeth.

For example, the Incisors (front teeth) fall out at 6-8 years, the Molars (back teeth) at 10-12 years, and the Canines at 12-13 years.

If a baby’s tooth becomes infected or damaged as a result of decay or injury, a root canal treatment may be recommended to save the tooth until it falls out naturally.

Keep in mind that even if a baby’s tooth is treated with a root canal, the tooth could become infected again in the future, resulting in a repeat treatment or extraction. Regular dental check-ups are necessary to monitor the health of the treated tooth and detect any problems early on.
